Reading Magistrates’ Court: Newbury man denies boat damage
A MAN is to go on trial accused of damaging a boat and threatening behaviour.
Grant Cleverley appeared in the dock at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, August 23.
The 46-year-old, of Park Way, Newbury, is charged with causing up to £5,000 worth of damage to the metalwork of the boat, belonging to Michael Groocock, in Newbury on Monday, March 6.
He is further accused of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour towards Mr Groocock, thereby causing him harassment, alarm or distress, on the same occasion.
Magistrates told Mr Cleverley, who was legally represented at the hearing by Simon Hammudi, that the case could proceed no further that day and that it would be adjourned for a trial to be arranged.
Mr Cleverley was meanwhile granted unconditional bail.
