The 34-year-old, of Enborne Gate, Newbury, is accused of assaulting both Katie Freemantle and Lee Hart by beating them in Thatcham on September 18 last year.

He also faces a third charge, that of causing £15 worth of criminal damage to a T-shirt belonging to Mr Hart on the same occasion.

Mr Tilley, who was legally represented at the hearing, spoke only to confirm his details and to plead not guilty all charges.

He was told the case could proceed no further that day and it would be adjourned for a trial to be arranged.

Mr Tilley was meanwhile released on unconditional bail.
