Reading Magistrates’ Court: Thatcham man denies he is a stalker




A MAN is to go on trial accused of causing a woman serious distress by stalking her.

Aamar Mahmood appeared in the dock at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, July 4.

The 35-year-old, of London Road, Thatcham, is accused of causing Rebecca Venn serious alarm or distress by stalking her between December 10 last year and Thursday, March 16.

Specifically, he is said to haveturned up, unwanted, in multiple places, having a substantial adverse effect on Ms Venn’s day-to-day activities.

Mr Mahmood, who was legally represented at the hearing by Paul Gilmartin, is also accused of stalking Ms Venn between the same dates by creating false online accounts in her name and making indirect comments relating to her.

He spoke only to confirm his details and to plead not guilty to both charges.

Mr Mahmood was told the case could proceed no further that day and it was adjourned for a trial to be arranged.

He was meanwhile released on bail with conditions.
