Reading Magistrates' Court: Calcot man denies racist assault




A MAN is to go on trial charged with a racially aggravated assault.

In the dock at Reading Magistrates' Court on Thursday, July 21, was Patrick Hurley.

The 52-year-old, of Underwood Road, Calcot, is charged with committing a racially aggravated assault.

He is further accused of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour.

Finally, Mr Hurley is charged with causing criminal damage by destroying a mobile phone worth £70 belonging to the alleged victim.

All the above offences were said to have happened in Calcot on August 26 last year.

District judge Samuel Goozee told Mr Hurley the case could proceed no further that day and adjourned all the matters for a trial to be arranged.

Mr Hurley was meanwhile granted unconditional bail.
