A NEWBURY man has denied a serious assault charge.
On Thursday, April 15, Reading magistrates held a preliminary hearing into the case against Ben Richard Thompson.
The 23-year-old, who lives in Hawthorn Road, is accused of assaulting Matthew Mann in Newbury on October 23 last year, thereby causing him actual bodily harm.
Mr Thompson, who was not present, was further accused of causing criminal damage at Premier Stores in Newbury on the same occasion.
He denies both charges and magistrates adjourned matters until October, for a trial.
Mr Thompson was meanwhile granted conditional bail.
