Man detained following incident on A339 footbridge in Newbury

A MAN has been detained under the Mental Health Act following an incident on a footbridge in Newbury.

Thames Valley Police officers were called at 12.30pm on Friday to a report of a fear for welfare.

The event took place on the footbridge that runs over the A339, between Newtown Road and Bodin Gardens.

The man, aged in his twenties, was taken to hospital.
