Man dies after Thames Valley Police called to 'medical episode' incident on Newbury Marina towpath along Kennet & Avon Canal




A man in his 40s has died, say police who were called to a 'medical episode' incident at the Newbury Marina towpath last week.

Police officers cordoned off a stretch of the Newbury Marina on London Road on Friday, January 14.

The man was then located following a medical episode, and has subsequently died.

Thames Valley Police told @newburytoday that his death was being treated as "unexplained, but not suspicious".

Officers were called to the scene at approximately 7.40am and the towpath remained shut for several hours.

Pedestrians walking from Newbury were diverted and Thames Valley Police stated that the incident related to "a fear for welfare medical episode of a man".

Thames Valley Police said that his next of kin were aware and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
