Man dies in Hungerford house fire, after being rescued from blaze by Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews
A man has died from his injuries, after being rescued from a house fire.
Fire crews from all over the south were called to reports of the fire in Priory Avenue, Hungerford, at 11.13am yesterday (Friday).
They found the blaze was on the first floor of a two-storey semi-detached house.
Eight firefighters, wearing breathing apparatus, found the man and rescued him from the building but the Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service has since confirmed that the man has died as a result of the injuries he sustained.
“One man was located and rescued from the building, however, he sadly passed away as a result of his injuries,” the service said.
“Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this extremely difficult time.”
Two Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Newbury fire station rushed to the scene, along with the aerial ladder platform from Whitley Wood and crews from Dorset and Wiltshire and Oxfordshire County Council Fire and Rescue Service.
Three officers were also sent to the scene.
