Newbury man Corby Blandford faces charges of strangulation, controlling behaviour and serious assault
A MAN has been sent to the crown court on charges including coercively controlling a woman and intentional strangulation.
Corby Blandford appeared in the dock at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Friday, August 30.
The 21-year-old, of Cresswell Road, Newbury, faces five charges, all relating to the same alleged victim in Newbury.
Specifically, he is charged with committing assault causing actual bodily harm between September 1 and September 30 last year.
Next, Mr Blandford is accused of coercive control using by using intimidation, emotional abuse, isolation, jealousy and by tracking her movements via the Live 360 App between September 1 last year and Thursday, August 29 this year.
He is further accused of sending numerous indecent or grossly offensive messages on Sunday, August 18.
Mr Blandford is also charged with intentional strangulation between September 1 and September 30 last year.
Finally, he is accused of assault causing actual bodily harm on November 23 last year.
District judge Samuel Goozee told Mr Blandford, who was legally represented at the hearing, that the case was being sent to be dealt with by a judge and, in the event of a trial, by a jury, sitting at Reading Crown Court on a date to be fixed.
He was meanwhile released on bail with conditions.
