Hermitage man Josh Eaton charged with offences of violence and attempted robbery in Newbury
A MAN has been sent to the crown court on multiple charges including attempted robbery and assault.
Josh Eaton appeared in the dock at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Friday, August 8.
The 27-year-old, of Queens Road, Hermitage, is accused of assaulting Sean Sheils by beating him and also of trying to rob him of a mobile phone.
Next, Mr Eaton is accused of assaulting Alison Prudden by beating her.
He further stands charged with assaulting a police officer, Alasdair Ferrie, in the course of his duty.
Mr Eaton is also charged with damaging £200 worth of stock belonging to Caffe Botanico in Newbury.
Finally, he is accused of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour.
All of the above offences were said to have been committed in Newbury on Wednesday, August 7.
Mr Eaton, who was legally represented by Beth Vaughan of Albin and Co, was told the case was being sent to be dealt with by a judge and, in the event of a trial, by a jury, sitting at Reading Crown Court on a date to be fixed.
District Judge Samuel Goozee meanwhile released Mr Eaton on bail with conditions.
