Reading Magistrates’ Court: Man had knife and baseball bat on Newbury housing estate
A MAN is awaiting sentence for having a baseball bat and knife on a housing estate.
In the dock at Reading Magistrates' Court on on Monday, June 26, was Nikolas Cross.
The 19-year-old, of Ewing Way, Newbury, initially pleaded not guilty to possessing the bat and also to possessing a kitchen knife as an offensive weapon at The Nightingales in Newbury on December 23 last year.
However, at the latest hearing he changed his plea to guilty on both counts.
Magistrates ordered pre-sentence reports to be prepared on an ‘all options’ basis, including custody.
They also warned Mr Cross, who was legally represented by Nathaniel Ikeazor, that they reserved the option of sending him to Reading Crown Court to be sentenced by a judge.
He was meanwhile granted unconditional bail.
