Greenham man spreads festive cheer with Christmas lights display
A Greenham man has helped to spread some Christmas cheer – all in aid of charity.
Steve Morgan, a resident of Hamilton Court for the past 43 years, has decorated seven houses and a little wooded area at his home for the eighth year running — complete with a snow machine and a Santa’s grotto.
And more than 70 people gathered at his home on Sunday (December 1) to see his winter wonderland of displays and inflatables switched on, lighting up the area for all to enjoy.
“I was blown away by how many people were there,” said Mr Morgan.
“Greenham has always a bad name, so we wanted to give it a bit of light.
“I can only thank the weather and for all the people who came to make it worthwhile.”
He has so far managed to raise hundreds of pounds through donations and selling model reindeers, robins and angels he crafted himself.
And he hopes to hit the £1,000 mark shortly.
This year, Mr Morgan, a keen animal lover and woodworker, decided to distribute the funds raised between the Dogs Trust and Air Ambulances UK.
Everyone is welcome to get photos with his displays, which will be lit up between 4.30pm and 9pm over the Christmas period.

He said this will be his last year crafting items to sell, but that he has no plans to stop the displays anytime soon.
Speaking about the future, he added: “I’m going to put all my efforts into the display, because I want to go bigger next year.”
