Thatcham man Joshua Rampton in custody on false imprisonment and strangulation charges




A man has been locked up on charges of false imprisonment and strangulation.

Joshua Rampton appeared in the dock at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Monday, January 6.

The 30-year-old, of Masefield Road, Thatcham, faces four charges in all.

First, he is accused of unlawfully imprisoning his victim and holding her against her will.

Second, he is charged with intentional strangulation.

Next, Mr Rampton is charged with assaulting her by beating her.

Finally, he is accused of causing criminal damage to her property.

All the above offences were said to have been committed in Reading on Saturday, January 4.

District judge Samuel Goozee sent the case to be dealt with by a judge and, in the event of a trial, by a jury, sitting at Reading Crown Court on a date to be fixed.

Mr Rampton, who was legally represented by Beth Vaughan, was meanwhile denied bail and was remanded in custody.
