The 19-year-old, of Leonard Court, off James Butcher Drive in Theale, is accused of possessing a firearm, namely, a pistol with a barrel of less than 12 inches in length, on Friday, June 21, in Reading.

Mr Reid, who was legally represented by Paul Gilmartin, was told the case was being sent to be dealt with by a judge and, in the event of a trial, by a jury, sitting at Reading Crown Court on a date to be fixed.

He was meanwhile denied bail and was remanded in custody.
