Man in his 70s seriously injured after collision with car in Newbury town centre




A pedestrian has been hit by a car in Newbury town centre.

Thames Valley Police is now appealing for witnesses after the man, who is in his 70s, was seriously injured in the incident last week.

At around 7.30pm on Friday, October 3 a silver/grey hatchback was involved in a collision with a pedestrian on The Broadway, close to The Monument pub.

It is believed that the vehicle mounted the pavement during a manoeuvre when the pedestrian was hit.

The pedestrian, a man in his seventies, sustained fractures to his hip and wrist, and remains in hospital now after being treated.

No arrests have been made.

Investigating officer PC Ben Taylor of the roads policing unit said: “I am appealing to anybody who witnessed this collision to please get in touch with Thames Valley Police.

“I would be particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have dash-cam footage which has captured the collision or the moments leading up to it to please get in touch.
