Man in intensive care after Newbury accident




Police appeal for witnesses after pedestrian struck by car at Kings Road

A 25-YEAR-OLD man is in intensive care in hospital after being hit by a car in Newbury on Saturday night (26).

The incident, which took place at about 9.50pm in Kings Road, involved a Vauxhall Zafira.

The pedestrian suffered serious injuries and is currently being treated at the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading.

One motorist, who drove past the cordoned off scene at 11.30pm, said that the damaged Vauxhall had stopped near the pedestrian crossing between West Berkshire Magistrates' Court and Sainsbury's.

Other eye witnesses described the windscreen of the car as being “totally smashed in”.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident.
