Reading Magistrates' Court: Thatcham man
A MAN is set to go on trial on a charge of assault.
In the dock at Reading Magistrates' Court on Friday, December 30, was Phillip Rampton.
The 50-year-old, of Redshank Court, Thatcham, is charged with assaulting George Rattray by beating him in Thatcham.
He is further accused of using threatening or abusive words or behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress.
Both incidents were said to have happened on Sunday, August 28.
Mr Rampton spoke only to confirm his details and to plead not guilty to both charges.
District judge Samuel Goozee told him the case could proceed no further that day and he adjourned proceedings for a trial to be arranged.
Mr Rampton was meanwhile granted unconditional bail.
