At a previous hearing the 32-year-old, of Mabel Luke Place, off Mill Lane in Newbury, had denied sending a death threat in Newbury on Tuesday, April 1.

He had likewise pleaded not guilty to using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour towards Melinda Sheldon on the same occasion.

However, he subsequently changed his pleas and admitted both offences.

Wallin, who has numerous previous convictions, also admitted a third charge – that of assaulting Muhammed Hussain in Newbury on March 14.

He was sentenced to four weeks imprisonment.

Magistrates said an immediate custodial sentence was necessary because of the nature and seriousness of the offending, his previous convictions and the fact that Wallin was “unmanageable in the community”.

No order was made for costs but Wallin was made subject to a restraining order forbidding him from contacting Mr Hussain, either directly or indirectly, for 12 months.
