Man jailed after "savage" knife attack

Robbie Kirby jailed for three years after assault outside nightclub

A Tilehurst man has been jailed for three years after a “savage” knife attack outside a busy Reading nightclub.

On November 14, Robbie Kirby, aged 24, of Gairn Close, assaulted a man outside the Sub 89 Nightclub at Friar Street.

The 26-year old victim sustained multiple stab wounds which required hospital treatment.

Kirby pleaded guilty at Reading Crown Court on May 3 to the offence of Section 20 grievous bodily harm and was sentenced to three years’ imprisonment.

Investigating officer Det Con James Faithfull from Force CID at Reading said: “This was a particularly savage assault which occurred outside a busy town centre nightclub.

“Although the victim declined to engage or assist with the investigation, I believe that this conviction demonstrates Thames Valley Police’s commitment to bring violent offenders to justice and to protect the community.”
