Tazarab Bashir, 44, jailed after stealing more than £5,600-worth of tobacco and alcohol from SPAR in Kingsclere in May 2023
A man has been jailed for a year after stealing tobacco products and alcohol worth more than £5,600 from a rural convenience store.
Tazarab Bashir, 44, of no fixed abode, broke into the SPAR shop on Swan Street in Kingsclere at around 2am on Tuesday, May 9 this year.
Once inside, he stole a number of tobacco and alcohol products which were worth £5,645.38.
Officers launched an investigation and Bashir was identified after forensic work was carried out at the scene.
Bashir admitted burglary at Winchester Crown Court on Wednesday, December 13 and was jailed for 12 months.
Det Sgt Adam Knight said: “We will not tolerate this type of criminality across the district.
“Bashir brazenly targeted this store and stole high value items during the middle of the night.
“Following an extensive investigation, officers were able to identify and later charge Bashir with burglary.
“He will now suffer the consequences of his actions, and I hope the community can feel reassured that he is now behind bars.”
