Reading Magistrates' Court: East Ilsley man jailed for attacks in Newbury
A district judge has jailed a man for two assaults committed in Newbury.
Haydon George Lucas had been due in the dock at Reading Magistrates' Court on Thursday, March 31.
He faced a charge of assaulting a man by beating him and also of assaulting a youth by beating him, both on September 15 last year in Newbury.
But the 26-year-old, who lives at Downside, East Ilsley, did not turn up for the hearing and district judge Samuel Goozee convicted him, in his absence, on both counts.
The convictions meant Mr Lucas, who has previously been jailed for violence, was in breach of a suspended prison sentence imposed last year for public order offences and theft.
District judge Goozee sentenced Mr Lucas to 10 weeks imprisonment.
No order for costs was made but he was ordered to pay a statutory victim services surcharge of £128.
In addition, Mr Lucas was made subject to a 12-month restraining order preventing him from contacting his victims, either directly or indirectly.
