A man has been killed after being hit by a car in Newbury.

The 55-year-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

The A4 was closed between Hambridge Road and the business park roundabout while a police investigation was carried out.

Thames Valley Police were called to the scene, close to the junction of Dorneywood Way, at 7.30pm yesterday (Saturday).

Inspector Paul Bradford said that a car had hit the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

He added that no arrests had been made at this stage of the investigation.

The section of road was closed for several hours while officers conducted their investigations.
