Man left with fractured cheekbone after assault during football match in Silchester
Police are appealing for witnesses after a man suffered a fractured cheekbone in an assault during a football match in Silchester last month.
On Saturday, December 11, in a match between Silchester FC and Whitehill & Bordon FC, a Whitehill & Bordon player was assaulted after a penalty had been awarded to Silchester in the 61st minute.
The man suffered a fractured cheekbone, a cut to his eye and a damaged tooth following the incident.
Although the incident occurred on December 11, it was only reported to police on December 31.
Hampshire Constabulary is now appealing for witnesses and information.
A spokesperson said: “Officers have contacted both teams and Hampshire FA, but we are keen to hear from any other witnesses.
“Were you in the crowd? Did you witness the incident? Do you have any footage or images that could help our investigation?
