Michael Da Silva locked up on Newbury home burglary charge




A MAN has been sent to the crown court in custody charged with burglary.

Michael Da Silva appeared in the dock at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Friday, October 4.

The 42-year-old, of Northway, Newbury, is accused of entering a home in the town’s Porchester Road as a trespasser and stealing £20 in cash.

He is further charged with stealing a pair of sunglasses and their case and a pot containing an unknown value of coins belonging to Claire Vincent.

Both offences were said to have happened on Saturday, August 10.

Mr Da Silva, who was legally represented by Simon Hammudi, was told the case was being sent to be dealt with by a judge and, in the event of a trial, by a jury sitting at Reading Crown Court on a date to be fixed.

District judge Davinder Sandhu meanwhile denied him bail and remanded Mr Da Silva in custody.

On 10/08/2024 at Newbury in The County of West Berkshire, stole sunglasses and case and a pot containing coins, of a value unknown, belonging to Claire Vincent.

On 10/08/2024 at Newbury in THE cOUNTY OF West Berkshire having entered as a trespasser a dwelling, namely 11 PORCHESTER ROAD, stole therein cash to the value of £20.
