Man punched taxi driver after failing to pay fare

Police are appealing for witnesses after a taxi driver was punched in the ribs when his fare walked off without paying.
The incident started around 11.45pm on Friday April 3 when the offender got into a Hackney taxi outside Reading Railway Station.
The man agreed a fare to Newbury but said he needed to stop at a cash machine first.
When the taxi driver stopped at the BP service station in London Road at around 12.30am the offender got out but made no attempt to use the machine and walked off.
The driver followed him, recorded him on his mobile phone and asked him to pay the fare.
The offender then snatched the driver’s phone and threw it into a garden before attempting to punch the victim twice and then punched him in the ribs.
Police would like to speak to the man in the image as he may have information and are asking anybody with information to contact PC Andy Murray from Newbury police station on 101 or anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
