Man rampages through former partner's home
Defendant hurls paint and damages car
A MAN went on the rampage through his former partner’s home, hurling paint as he went, Newbury magistrates heard.
And when he was done with that, Mark John Thrift started wrecking her car, the court was told on Thursday, December 17.
Louise Attrill, prosecuting, said: “These offences are domestic in nature and police attended the home address of his ex-partner.
“He had thrown tubs of paint all over the living room walls, mirrors, the television, the patio. He then spat in her face.”
Mr Thrift, currently of no fixed address, admitted damaging property belonging to Marianne Grimshaw at Bath Road, Woolhampton, on November 9.
He further admitted assaulting Ms Grimshaw by beating her and damaging her VW Golf, both on the same occasion as the first offence.
Mr Thrift has 11 previous convictions, the court heard.
Ms Attrill said he had assaulted his former partner by spitting full in her face and added: “He damaged the vehicle by using a bike lock to scratch the paintwork and to push the wing mirror off.”
She added that the prosecution would be seeking a restraining order in respect of Mr Thrift in due course.
Simon Grant, defending, said: “I would ask for an adjournment for reports to be prepared on my client.
“Because of the nature of the allegations, a number of things will need to be looked into.”
Magistrates concurred and adjourned for pre-sentence reports to be prepared.
Mr Thrift was meanwhile released on conditional bail.
