Man rescued from Newbury home during fire




Firefighters were called to Pigeons Farm Road for the second time in 24-hours in suspected arson attack

A MAN was rescued from the upstairs of his Newbury home after a bin fire spread to his house.

Firefighters from Newbury were called to the blaze at Pigeons Farm Road just after 3am.

It was the second time in 24-hours that crews were called to the same road to extinguish a fire.

The South Central Ambulance Service also attended the scene to check over the man but he was uninjured.

Police are treating the incident as arson.

Yesterday morning (Saturday), fire crews attended the same road after a pile of rubbish caught fire.
