Man rescued from Pangbourne flat window

Hospitalised in potentially life-threatening condition

An elderly man was rescued through the window of a Pangbourne flat last night (Friday), and taken to hospital in a potentially life threatening condition, following a medical episode.

A firefighting crew was called from Dee Road Fire Station, Tilehurst, at 11.45pm to a block of flats in Reading Road, after an elderly man suffered a fall.

Firefighters requested an aerial appliance from Whitley Wood Fire Station and the man was rescued from the first floor flat, after firefighters removed the window, before placing the man on the aerial appliance and lowering him to the ground.

South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS) spokeswoman, Catherine Morrow, said an ambulance crew and co-responder were called to the scene of the medical emergency at 10.50am.

An elderly man was assessed and taken in a potentially life-threatening condition to the Royal Berkshire Hospital, in Reading.

Firefighters left the scene at 1.30am
