Man robbed and assaulted in Thatcham for a cigarette





At around 11pm on Friday (4), the 29-year-old victim was walking in the alleyway near the shops on the Station Road which leads to the Urquhart Road estate, when he noticed a group of four men in the alleyway.
One of the men approached him and asked for a cigarette.
When he told the offender he only had the one he was smoking he was punched in the face.
As the victim tried to run away he was tripped up and fell to the ground where he was then kicked repeatedly on the head and body.
During the attack the victim had his wallet stolen, which contained £70 and various cards, and his Motorola touch screen mobile.
The victim attended the Royal Berkshire Hospital and was later discharged after having treatment for a fracture to his skull, a burst eardrum and cuts and bruises.
The main offender is white, 5ft 10ins, stocky build with broad shoulders, dark, bushy eyebrows, and brown eyes.
He was wearing a white hooded top with a fur lined hood.
The top had a reflective emblem on the right side of the chest area.
The remaining three men were white and wearing dark clothing.
