Reading Magistrates’ Court: Newbury man’s bad behaviour was racially motivated




A MAN has been sentenced for a racially aggravated offence.

In the dock at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, June 7, was Scott Laurie.

The 34-year-old, of Mandarin Drive, Newbury, admitted a racially aggravated offence of using threatening or abusive words or behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress in Newbury on December 19 last year.

Mr Laurie, who was legally represented by Joanna Benn, was fined £100.

District judge Samuel Goozee also ordered Mr Laurie to pay £85 costs, plus a statutory victim services surcharge.
