Newbury man Thomas Martin attacked Jacob Oakley




A MAN has been fined for assaulting another male.

Thomas Martin appeared for sentencing at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Monday, October 30.

The 33-year-old, of Valley Road, Newbury, had been accused of assaulting Jacob Oakley, thereby causing him actual bodily harm in Newbury on May 23 last year.

That charge was dismissed but Mr Martin was convicted of assaulting Mr Oakley by beating him on the same occasion.

He was further convicted of driving a grey BMW carelessly on Bartholomew Street, Newbury, on the same date.

Mr Martin was fined £230 and made subject to a 12-month community order with a requirement that he complete 60 hours of unpaid community work.

In addition, he was ordered to pay a statutory victim services surcharge of £58.
