Antony Hansen sentenced for racist abuse in The Old Waggon and Horses, Newbury




A MAN has been sentenced for his racist aggression in a town centre pub.

Antony Hansen appeared in the dock at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, January 17.

The 33-year-old, formerly of of Parsons Close, Newbury, and who now lives in the town’s St George’s Avenue, initially denied using racially motivated threatening or abusive words or behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress in the Old Waggon and Horses’ Canal Bar in Market Place, Newbury, on March 11 last year.

But he subsequently changed his plea and admitted the offence.

Mr Hansen was fined £90.

In addition, he was ordered to pay £150 costs, plus a statutory victim services surcharge.
