The 31-year-old, of Riverdale Court, off London Road in Newbury, admitted threatening to kill Hayley Terry, intending that she would fear he would do so, in Newbury between March 31 and May 1 last year.

In addition, Mr Springett admitted using violence for the purpose of securing entry into a Newbury home, knowing the person there opposed his entry, on June 11 last year.

Mr Springett, who was legally represented by Martin Hennessy, was made subject to a 12-month supervision order.

He was also ordered to complete 180 hours of unpaid community work.

Next, Mr Springett was ordered to pay £85 costs, plus a statutory victim services surcharge of £114.

Finally, the court imposed a five-year restraining order preventing him from contacting his victim either directly or indirectly.
