Tilehurst man sentenced for kicking police officer in shoulder




A 29-year-old man has been given a suspended sentence for assaulting an emergency worker in Reading.

Matthew Davies, of The Ridings, Tilehurst, pleaded guilty to the offence at Reading Magistrates Court on February 25 (Friday).

Mr Davies was given a six week prison sentence, suspended for six months.

The offence took place on Thursday (February 24), when Mr Davies kicked a police officer in the shoulder.

Investigating officer Sgt John Heatley, based at Newbury police station, said: “Being assaulted is not and should never be regarded as ‘part of the job'.

“We will always look to prosecute anyone who assaults an emergency worker”.
