Cold Ash man Leo West set for trial on Samurai sword charges
A MAN is facing charges over two Samurai swords.
Leo West appeared in the dock at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, August 28.
The 61-year-old, of Cold Ash Hill, Cold Ash, is accused of possessing, in private, two weapons – namely, Samurai swords with curved blades that exceeded 50cm in length – to which section 141 of the Criminal Justice Act 1988 applied, in the Thatcham postal area on February 27.
Mr West, who was legally represented by Sidra Quadri, spoke only to confirm his details and to plead not guilty to the charges.
He was told the case could proceed no further that day and that it would be adjourned for a trial to be arranged.
Mr West was meanwhile released on unconditional bail.
