Reading Magistrates' Court: Newbury man set for trial on strangulation charge
A MAN has pleaded not guilty to intentionally strangling a woman.
In the dock at Reading Magistrates' Court on Friday, December 2, was Alexander Richardson.
The 28-year-old, who lives at Church Barn, off Church Hill, Newbury, is accused of intentionally strangling Megan Shipley.
He is also charged with assaulting Ms Shipley by beating her.
Both offences were said to have happened in Newbury on Wednesday, November 30.
Mr Richardson, who was legally represented by Gianpaolo Damiani, spoke only to confirm his details and to deny both offences.
He was told the case could proceed no further that day and magistrates adjourned it for a trial to be arranged.
Mr Richardson was meanwhile granted bail with conditions.
