Man smashes window in row over meal

Colin Null then headbutted police car window

A MAN smashed his father’s living room window in a row, Newbury magistrates heard.

Colin Andrew Null did the same to a police car window, the court was told last Thursday.

Helen Waite, prosecuting, said the 27-year-old threw a tantrum “in an argument over his meal” and, on being asked to leave his father’s home in Newport Road, Newbury, he punched the window.

She added: “It was double glazed but he managed to smash it with his fist. When he was arrested, he told police his father wound him up. He also caused damage to a police car windshield by headbutting it, causing it to crack.”

Jobless Mr Null, who lives at the Travelodge in Chieveley, admitted damaging a window belonging to Clarence Null on May 28 and causing £260.64 worth of damage to the police car on June 4 this year.

Mr Null has numerous previous convictions, the court heard. Mike Davis, defending, said his client was awaiting a place at a drug rehablitation unit but added: “Unfortunately there’s a waiting list.”

After reading pre-sentence reports on Mr Null, magistrates adjourned the case until July 16, when he will be sentenced for another, unspecified offence.

He was released on bail on condition that he does not contact his father or enter Newport Road.
