Man stole alcohol after prison release
Thomas Alexander Etherton was on licence when he committed the offence at Tesco in Pinchington Lane, Newbury, the court was told.
Ben Amunwa, prosecuting, said a store security alarm was triggered when the 21-year-old, of Newtown Road, Newbury, left the store without paying.
Mr Etherton admitted stealing alcohol worth £39 on July 30 this year.
Mike Davis, defending, said: “He is still on licence for a previous offence,” and called a probation officer to give evidence that his client was attending all appointments required of him and had received a “glowing report” from his case officer.
Mr Etherton was fined £40 and ordered to pay a statutory surcharge of £20.
