Man taken to hospital in serious condition after air ambulance lands in Newbury

South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS) spokeswoman, Catherine Morrow, said ambulance services were called at 9.09am today to an (unspecified) address in Newbury, due to a reported medical emergency.
The Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance was scrambled to the incident and seen coming in to land near the Robin Hood roundabout in Newbury, according to an eyewitness.
A man believed to have been in his 70’s in a serious condition was instead taken by road to hospital.
The air ambulance took off without any patient on board.
Thames Valley Police (TVP) spokeswoman, Lucy Billen, said police were called at 9.25am to Martingale Chase, Newbury, off the A4/London Road, after the man had been taken ill in a vehicle.
Police were called mainly to assist ambulance services with a road closure, for the air ambulance to land.
The road closure was lifted at 10am.
