Police hunt man in connection with incident which ‘recklessly endangered’ woman’s life when a ‘substantial item’ was thrown onto the M4 near Reading




A young man recklessly endangered a woman’s life when he threw something from a bridge onto the M4, police have said.

The man, possibly in his teens, was jogging along Kirtons Farm overbridge, near Reading, when he stopped and threw “something substantial” onto the live traffic below.

The item damaged a car belonging to a woman in her 60s.

The incident took place between 4.30pm and 7pm on Sunday, May 4.

The man was understood to have been dressed in all black.

Investigating officer PC Jordan Mattingley said: “The outcome of throwing something from a bridge into traffic on a motorway can have fatal consequences.

“I am appealing to anybody who witnessed what happened to please contact us.

“I would particularly like to hear from anybody who may have been travelling on the M4 around this date and time and may have dash-cam footage.”
