Reading Magistrates' Court: Kintbury man tormented pregnant ex in love triangle
A PREGNANT woman who became embroiled in a love triangle was bombarded with unwanted messages from her ex-partner.
And on Thursday her tormentor appeared for sentencing at Reading Magistrates' Court.
In the dock was Daniel Page.
The 29-year-old, who was living at Burtons Hill, Kintbury, had split from his victim, Lucy Judges.
Charlotte Abbott, prosecuting, described what happened next.
She said: "The defendant had been drinking and wanted to ask about his belongings that were in the house.
"Ms Judges didn't want to speak to him and blocked his number."
However, said Ms Abbott, she was then bombarded with calls from a withheld number "throughout the night and the next day".
Eventually the police attended and they received a call (on her phone) from the withheld number, magistrates were told.
Ms Abbott said: "An officer answered and made it clear that he needed to stop calling or he would be arrested."
But the calls continued over the next few days, the court heard.
Ms Abbott said: "Ms Judges was 11 weeks pregnant at the time and suffered anxiety as a result of his actions."
Mr Page, a groundworker, admitted harassing Ms Judges between January 14 and January 17.
He has also been sentenced to 12 weeks imprisonment, suspended for two years, for two breaches of a non-molestation order relating to a different woman, subsequent to his harassment of Ms Judges, magistrates were told.
Jo Benn, defending, pointed out that her client had made "full and frank admissions" and said, of the non molestation order breach: "He was in a relationship with an entirely separate lady [to the current complainant] and they have a daughter together.
"The lady caused some difficulties in his relationship with Ms Judges.
"He takes full responsibility for his actions; he was in a bad place."
Ms Benn said Mr Page remained separated from Ms Judges.
She added: "One of the requirements of his suspended sentence order is that he attends a 'building better relationships' programme."
Mr Page, who has since moved to Warren Drive, Newbury, was fined £130.
In addition, he was ordered to pay £85 costs, plus a statutory victim services surcharge of £34.
