The 36-year-old, of Green Lane, Newbury, admitted being in charge of a Fiat Punto at the One Stop shop in Kiln Road, Newbury, on Wednesday, March 22, when the proportion of the Class B-controlled drug, a dissociative anaesthetic with psychedelic properties, in his system exceeded the specified limit.

Magistrates adjourned the case for pre-sentence reports to be prepared.

They ordered these to be prepared on an ‘all options’ basis, including custody.

Mr Denton was meanwhile granted unconditional bail.
