The 54-year-old, of Digby Road, Newbury, admitted pursuing a course of conduct which amounted to the harassment of one woman by sending her multiple text messages and voicemails that included lewd comments, threats and insults, in Newbury between April 1 and August 13 last year.

He further admitted committing the same offence in respect of a second female by sending her harassing voicemails and texts in Newbury between August 10 and August 12 last year.

Clements was jailed for a total of 20 weeks, 40 per cent of which will be served behind bars and the remainder on licence in the community.

Magistrates said a custodial sentence was necessary because the nature of the offending was so serious and because the victims needed protection.

They also made Clements subject to a five-year restraining order preventing him from contacting either victim, whether directly or indirectly.
