Man who stabbed wife jailed for 19 years

Colin Hutt, aged 52, of School Road Tilehurst, returned to his flat to collect three knives after drinking on March 17 of this year.
He then visited the Victoria Pub in Norcot Road where his estranged wife Lorraine Skeet was present.
He stabbed her seven times as she approached the doorway, causing injuries to her chin and upper arms.
Three men restrained Hutt until the police arrived and he was charged with her attempted murder the following day.
Hutt was sentenced to 19 year’s imprisonment and will remain on licence for life after being convicted by jury at Reading Crown Court on September 11.
Investigating officer Det Con Matthew Hirst, of Force CID, said: “Incidents such as these are rare and this sentence sends out a message that every effort is made to bring violent offenders to justice.
“Thames Valley Police is committed to tackling domestic abuse and we will be relentless in our pursuit of justice for victims.
“I hope this sentence will bring some closure to the victim and her family.”
