Marathon runners bring in more than £4,000 for West Berkshire Mencap

On March 2, 15 runners took to the Reading half-marathon route to raise funds for the charity, which provides support and respite care for those living with learning disabilities in West Berkshire and their families and carers.
The funds will be split between a number of different services within West Berkshire Mencap, including its children’s services and the Growing 4 All project, a plant-growing project based at Cottismore Garden Centre, Kingsclere.
Fundraising manager at West Berkshire Mencap, Carrie-Anne Ferrie, said: “We are very grateful to all of the runners who took part in the Reading Half Marathon in aid of our vital services.
“The total they have raised for us is fantastic and will really help our services for local people with learning disabilities.
“All of the runners were full of enthusiasm and worked extremely hard to raise much needed funds for our services.”
The charity is now appealing for runners for the 10-mile Great South Run, being held in Portsmouth on October 26.
