£167 raised for Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice at village market
FUNDRAISER Jane Fairchild raised £167 for Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice when she set up stall at Aldworth Saturday Market (ASM) on Saturday.
Mrs Fairchild, who was selling hand-sewn/knitted baby and young children’s clothes, soft toys and many other gifts thanked everyone for their support.
She and friends have now raised about £40,000 for the Children's Hospice Service.
The charity Alexander Devine Children's Hospice Service was founded in 2007 by the Devine family in memory of their son Alexander who died at the age of eight from a brain tumour that was first diagnosed when he was just four.
A local, caring service was desperately needed to support Berkshire families whose children had life-threatening illnesses.
The first Alexander’s nurses were funded in 2009 and a Community Service in 2012.
A capital appeal was launched in 2013 and by 2015 £6m had been raised to begin building a state of the art Children’s Hospice near Maidenhead.
This opened in 2018 and its facilities and services increase every year thanks to wonderful support from people like the Aldworth visitors who support Jane Fairchild's stall at the ASM.
Jane will next have her stall at Aldworth’s Mini Christmas Market on Saturday, December 16.
She said it will be perfect for buying last minute Christmas gifts for young and old.
