Masterchef's Annie Assheton launches floating restaurant

Annie, who since appearing on the BBC programme in 2011 has been running a cookery school and private catering firm near Pangbourne, said that she was approached by Nick Harborne and Paul Roberts, of Canal Experience, to help with a request they had had from a woman who wanted to surprise her husband with a romantic meal aboard a narrowboat.
So successful was the evening, said Nick, that they have decided to run the evenings more regularly, aboard

.
“We had chilled champagne waiting on the decks as they boarded," he said. "The table was set simply but tastefully, and the sun started to set as we cast off. Paul and I crewed the boat. The husband came and steered for a bit and helped with the locks, but quickly disappeared inside when the aroma from the galley told him the starter was served.
“Annie then cooked in front of the couple and entertained them with her experiences as a chef and stories about her appearance on

f as they enjoyed their gourmet meal. The moon obligingly rose, giving the perfect atmosphere to a lovely evening.”
The dinner cruises depart at sunset from Burghfield bridge, both winter and summer.
