Mayor of Basingstoke and Deane hosts reception event to mark the successful adoption of the Ashford Hill with Headley Neighbourhood Plan

A special reception took place to mark the successful adoption of the Ashford Hill with Headley Neighbourhood Plan by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council.

The mayor of Basingstoke and Deane Paul Miller hosted the event in the mayor’s parlour on Tuesday, November 22, to congratulate the parish on its dedication in engaging the community in shaping future development of the community together.

The plan, which was drawn up by Ashford Hill with Headley Parish Council, now forms part of Basingstoke and Deane’s development plan for the parish and will be used when considering planning applications.

Mr Miller said: “My congratulations to everyone in the parish of Ashford Hill with Headley who has been involved in the process to bring this Neighbourhood Plan to fruition.

“A great deal of hard work has been undertaken by the local community in order to get the plan made.

“Neighbourhood planning allows local people to have a real input into decisions about the future development of their communities.”

Of the 19.48 per cent of the electorate who voted in September’s referendum for the plan, 92.6 per cent of voters supported it and thus the neighbourhood plan was passed.
