Residents in Thatcham recently enjoyed afternoon tea in the Jubilee Sensory Garden at the mayor’s invitation.

On Tuesday (August 6), Mayor of Thatcham Suzanne Adamantos hosted the event for members of the community to help raise funds for her two chosen charities: Thatcham Youth and Cruse Bereavement Support.

Ellen Hicks was recognised for her many years of volunteering, while Peter and Lin Congerton were congratulated for their fundraising efforts over the past 25 years, during which time they have raised more than £50,000 for local charities.

The rain held off as tea, cake and cucumber sandwiches were served and guests were treated to a classical ukulele performance by Ann Buckley.

A prize-winning raffle took place and guests also perused the plant sale.
