Newbury mayor picks a Christmas card winner
THE winner of the mayor of Newbury’s Christmas card competition has been chosen.
The mayor’s Christmas card is sent to those who they have worked closely with throughout their time in office, as well as charities, organisations, twin towns and civic dignitaries. This year mayor Billy Drummond joined forces with the Newbury Weekly News in search of a winning design for the Christmas card that captures the spirit of Newbury and Christmas.
The chosen design was submitted by Victoria Stolyarova, pictured right with the mayor. The 27-year-old graphic designer saw the competition advertised on Facebook. Victoria often uses Newbury as inspiration for her design work and was quick to take the opportunity to take part in the competition. The design was created with watercolour and post edited in photoshop. She said: “It was a pleasure to design, thank you very much to the mayor for choosing it as your Christmas card this year.” You can see more of Victoria’s work on Instagram @victoriamowat_art
Victoria’s design will be produced as this year’s mayoral Christmas card and sent to more than 300 recipients.
Clara Winchester and Patricia Blunt were chosen as the second and third placed winners. Both receive a £25 gift card to spend at Hobbycraft.
